Dirt

Dirt, the second studio album by Alice In Chains, is a genre-defining masterpiece that showcases their unique fusion of heavy metal and grunge. Released in 1992, the album was produced by Dave Jerden and marked a major turning point in the band's career. It featured the hits "Them Bones" and "Would?", as well as the iconic ballad "Down in a Hole". Dirt also has a unique sound to it, produced by the band recording the entire album on analog equipment, giving it a raw, gritty sound that has been imitated, but never duplicated. The album was also the last recorded with the original lineup before the death of singer Layne Staley in 2002. Despite its darkness, Dirt remains one of the most influential albums of the 1990s and has been certified four times platinum in the US.
