Baby Driver (Music From The Motion Picture)
The soundtrack features a diverse collection of 30 tracks that span multiple decades and genres, ranging from classic rock to soul, and including artists such as Simon & Garfunkel, whose song "Baby Driver" fittingly closes the album. Tracks like "Bellbottoms" by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, "Radar Love" by Golden Earring, and "Debra" by Beck were meticulously chosen by Edgar Wright even before the film was shot, essentially scripting entire scenes around the music.
Interestingly, the film’s editor, Jonathan Amos, also had to synchronize the editing process precisely with the music, making it almost like a choreographed dance. This method of filmmaking and soundtrack integration was so unique at the time that it garnered widespread acclaim, emphasizing how music can elevate cinematic storytelling to new heights.
The "Baby Driver" soundtrack not only complements the film but stands alone as a carefully curated mixtape, taking listeners on a high-octane journey that is just as engaging off-screen as it is on.
